Ashton Cross Country Course Family photos (+ a surprise)

When this family came to the Ashton Cross Country Course for their family photos, little did they know that there would be a huge surprise at the end. Hannah and Eric are expecting!

It was just as much a surprise for me, too! Elizabeth texted me about twenty minutes before the shoot, saying that her brother Eric and his wife Hannah wanted to capture everyone’s reactions for something special. She didn’t go into further detail, but I had a hunch!

We started off with normal family photos, enjoying the outdoors. It was such a privilege to take their photos, because everyone in this family are old friends of mine! Elizabeth has been my best friend for over twenty years, and her sister Katherine is like an older sister to me, too.

Katherine and her husband Ryan are teachers at an international school in Asia. Because of covid restrictions, it’s become increasingly difficult for them to visit. The last time they were in the States was for their wedding two years ago!

They weren’t able to come last summer because Katherine was in her third trimester, so this was the first time that the family got to meet Owen! Now, everyone is making up for lost time.

I wish I had an image of what was going on behind me. There were at least three adults dancing, singing, clapping, and doing whatever it took to get Owen to smile and look at the camera!

In the end, we got some amazing photos. The family did a great job following my experience guide, and because of that, they came ready and looking fabulous!

The day was a little bit humid, but everyone kept their spirits up. While Owen had a break, I moved quickly to get as many different photo combinations as possible!

When the time came for the big reveal, I situated Hannah and Eric in the center, which was her cue to give me her phone to videotape under the guise of a phone picture. When Hannah pulled out the sonogram, their reactions were priceless!

Congratulations! I had the best time documenting this precious moment of your lives. Enjoy your family photos!
