Wheaton College Graduation Portraits

Hannah and I first met when I picked her up for a joint small group Super Bowl watch party. She expressed interest in joining our small group as she was in her last semester of school and ready to plug in for the post-grad life. Hannah’s grandparents live in the Wheaton area so she has attended College Church prior to attending Wheaton College and was a part of the college ministry during her years there; it definitely made the transition to the 20s ministry easier!

Hannah knew she was called to pursue music from a young age, and has followed that path with drive and tenacity. Even through a hand injury, she was determined to continue, and eventually graduated from Wheaton College with a degree in violin performance. It takes discipline and focus to accomplish a goal that you’ve wanted to achieve for years! Hannah was confident in her calling and had faith in God’s plan for her.

The day we picked for her senior session was a rare cool summer day. The sunset was beautiful, giving everything its light touches a beautiful glow on campus. Wheaton College’s campus is small enough for us to take photos with a variety of backgrounds. I’ve frequently walked around campus living close by, especially during lockdown, and I became familiar with the grounds to know good locations for photos.

We started later than usual due to Hannah’s busy schedule, but we were able to get many shots in. Of course, we had to get a photo at the Wheaton College sign; isn’t that a standard? The bottom of the sign is decently high in real life, and I didn’t think even Hannah, who’s pretty tall, could get up there without scraping something or falling down. But she once again demonstrated determination as she somehow climbed her way up in a dress! Thankfully, she didn’t have any injuries and was able to safely come back down. It was quite an adventure! In addition to the sign, we also made sure to capture her in front of the conservatory where she spent countless days as a music major. This session was so fun, and I enjoyed capturing a big accomplishment in Hannah’s life!
